OX.DH's virtual consultation solution, OX.Waiting Room (OX.wr) has been recognised in the national HTN Now Awards, earning "highly commended" in the Best Virtual Care Project category.

OX.wr enables video/online/telephone consultations for group and one-to-one sessions. As a Microsoft Teams plug-in, OX.wr is device and browser agnostic, and secure by design. Clinicians and patients save time and money whilst enjoying a familiar, intuitive experience within the Teams environment. Multi-Factor-Authentication (MFA) keeps data safe; pre- and post-appointment information and reminders enable effective communication with patients. Automatically triggered surveys help analysts assess the overall virtual consultation experience. OX.wr can also be easily configured to meet users’ requirements, allowing it to remain flexible as needs change.

OX.wr is already available on the NHS national tenant and NHS Appstore and can be rapidly configured for installation on local NHS tenants or for private healthcare providers. Availability, configurability, and interoperability allow this solution to address client needs.

Group consultations are also supported, providing a secure environment for clinicians and patients - ideal for supporting mental health sessions. Documents can be attached, sent and reviewed, to support triage and information sharing. OX.wr customers can benefit from dashboards and reporting functionality, to provide insights into the patient journey and drive continuous improvement.

At the end of the call, the clinician simply updates the EPR and moves on. Time savings accrue because there is no need to log into multiple systems. Patient safety is supported, as the need for re-keying data is reduced and information is stored digitally rather than on paper.

Richard Billam (deputy director of ICT at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) realised OX.wr would meet their video consultation needs. Within an hour of initial demo, he had the solution up and running, with preconfigured settings, on the Barnsley Teams account on the NHS national tenant. Richard was reassured by the ease of creating appointments and sending out notifications to a test patient by SMS and email.

Feedback from Barnsley noted the benefits of OX.wr functionality including its one-step registration process which matches patients to clinic bookings and offers visibility of appointments through the secure HL7 interface; its capability to list patients in time order; one-click join for consultations; and seamless integration with the Trust’s EPR.

OX.DH is onboarded onto the NHS Digital First Online Consultation Video Consultation (DFOCVC) Framework, and holds ISO27001 certification and Cyber Essentials Plus, as well as exceeding the standards required for NHS DSPT (Data Security & Protection Toolkit) and undertaking regular penetration and business disaster & recovery testing. In addition, OX.DH is currently working with the NHS Technology Innovation Framework (TIF) to develop the next generation of primary care digital infrastructure.
